Lyrics

Chorus

Shelter us under Thy wings! (Thy wings!) (Shelter us under Thy wings!)  Under the shade of Thy wings! (Thy wings!) (Under the shade, shade of Thy wings!) Living, befriend us; dying, attend us! Shelter us under Thy wings.

Verse 1

Savior, Thou callest and often, But there are falterings: Some will not heed, but we come, Lord, Shelter us under Thy wings.

Verse 2

While in the flesh evil beckons, Sin from our longing springs; Hedge us about from the tempter– Shelter us under Thy wings.

Verse 3

Tempests are raging about us, Fear to our spirits clings; Helpless are we if without Thee– Shelter us under Thy wings.

Verse 4

When, at the brink of the river, Death, with her venom stings, Swelling the cup of our anguish– Shelter us under Thy wings.
